The Essentials of Coaching for Wellness Professionals
has been designed to introduce the wellness professional to the exciting field
of coaching. Sara Hauber, program author, has designed this course to educate
wellness professionals (fitness and athletic trainers, nutrition counselors
and dietitians) about the practices and techniques of coaching, and help them
incorporate effective coaching techniques in their current wellness practices.
Sara Hauber has been a wellness coach and educator since 1999. She is focused
on educating and empowering people to achieve their greatest level of health
and wellness. The coaching techniques Sara shares in “The Essentials of
Coaching for Wellness Professionals” have been crucial to her success.
She recently co-wrote and starred in the Nestle Fitness Virtual Coach software
program, available in 12 countries in 2006. In 2004 she was featured on CBS2
Chicago’s “Fit Eye for the News Guy.” Sara currently provides
wellness education to fitness professionals throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Introduction to Coaching
- Learn the difference between coaching and other forms of lifestyle intervention
- Understand the foundations and principles of coaching
- Understand the components of the complex change process, including detailed information about habits, the environment, support, emotions, practice, and reasons for changing
Section 2: Choosing and Working with Clients
- Determine who is ready to change and who is not
- Define the roles of the coach and the coaching client
- Learn how to structure coaching sessions
- Learn how to help clients create SMART goals
- Understand proper questioning and responding techniques
- Learn listening skills and the power of silence
- Understand how to coach clients through relapse
Section 3: Adding Coaching Sessions
